The Route of the Churches

The Route of the Churches in Rincón de la Victoria is the perfect experience to enjoy culture, history, and Andalusian cuisine in a single route.

Discover the three most important temples, which have centuries of devotion and local culture: from the historic Nuestra Señora del Rosario Church in Cala del Moral, through the simple yet charming Nuestra Señora de la Victoria Church in the heart of the municipality, to the picturesque Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Church in Benagalbón. A unique experience that combines heritage and unique landscapes, the perfect way to connect with the soul of Rincón de la Victoria through its churches.

These are the three most important temples:

NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL ROSARIO CHURCH
Named after Our Lady of the Rosary, this church is located in Cala del Moral. Up until 1860, Our Lady of the Angels was the patron saint of this parish, but from that year onward, after its inauguration, Our Lady of the Rosary was named patron saint of the temple.

The church was restored in 1945. The current church replaced the old chapel located on Avda. de Málaga, which had become too small due to the town’s rapid population growth.

The Virgin of the Rosary celebrates her feast on October 7th.

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA VICTORIA CHURCH
Named after Our Lady of Victory, this church is located in Rincón de la Victoria. It is a simple 20th-century church featuring popular Andalusian architecture and houses an image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel from the 17th century. Inside, there is a small altarpiece dedicated to Our Lady of Victory.

Several processions throughout the year start from this church: the marine procession of the Virgin of Mount Carmel, the Virgin of Victory procession every September, and the Brotherhood of the Crucified Holy Christ and Most Holy Lady of Sorrows procession during Holy Week.

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA CANDELARIA CHURCH
Named after Our Lady of Candelaria, it is located in the town of Benagalbón, the interior urban center of Rincón de la Victoria. This is a simple rectangular church covered with a flat roof made of tiles and wooden beams. The original church dates back to the 16th century, and only the walls remain. It features a small exterior chapel with an entrance from the outside.

Its feast is celebrated on February 2nd, Candlemas, in honor of the town’s patron saint, Our Lady of Candelaria. The image of the Virgin dates from 1940. Inside, several mural paintings stand out, depicting the Annunciation, Purification, and Assumption, created by painter Francisco Hernández Díaz.
